The Brewer Aerodyne Anti-Downdraught Chimney Cowl With Strap Fixing is a high quality, incredibly durable and effective solution for solving wind-related downdraught issues. Suitable for use with solid fuel (wood and coal) systems, this cowl is available in a choice of finishes, including Black, Buff, Natural and Terracotta. 

Trusted for over 50 years, the Aerodyne Cowl uses unique venturi-shaped surfaces, so when wind passes through the cowl from any direction, a drop in air pressure occurs. This drop in air pressure draws smoke and fumes up the chimney for a more efficient dispersal into the atmosphere. The cowl will therefore prevent wind-related downdraught caused by nearby tall buildings and trees or incorrect chimney height which can manifest as both a lack of draw (updraught) and as a downdraught problem.

Installation: Uses the strap fixing method which is the most secure method of fixing the cowl to the pot, achieved with the use of external legs that are bent around a stainless steel strap which encircles the pot. Can be fitted to any standard size round chimney pot with internal diameters between 150mm to 240mm (6” – 9.5”). This product comes with a strap attaching kit and is made of 1.2mm thick high quality aluminium alloy.

Please note, chimney pots are not included. This product is not suitable for gas fires.

How do I prevent downdraught?

This is a common issue where air is blown back down the chimney. An anti-downdraught cowl will prevent wind entering the chimney.

How do I stop birds getting in my chimney?

Fitting a birdguard will stop birds, leaves and debris entering the chimney. You should choose the correct guard for the fuel you are burning.

Do I need to do anything if I no longer use my chimney?

Chimneys should be protected, especially in winter, if they are no longer used. Adding a cap to the chimney can help stop rain and draughts, but will also allow the required ventilation.

Delivery charges

  • The delivery charge will be shown in the checkout.
  • If the delivery is missed for any reason, you will be billed again for the re-delivery. See below: failed deliveries.

Delivery access

  • Brewer products are delivered in small boxes delivered by courier in a transit sized van. 
  • Our sales office will need to be made aware of any delivery restrictions, such as narrow lanes, overhanging trees etc. that may cause restrictions.

Date and time of delivery

  • We will advise a delivery date to you by email, and your order will be delivered directly to you from Brewer Cowls.
  • The delivery is next working day for orders placed with us before 11.00am, for most mainland UK postcodes
  • Delivery will arrive between 8.30am–5pm if you cannot be there to accept the delivery, it is important you either confirm a safe place to Roof Giant when you place your order or leave a note for the driver with instructions where to leave the delivery. If your delivery is left in a leave safe this is at your own risk. 

Failed deliveries are chargeable

  • Brewer couriers will attempt to deliver twice if no safe place has been requested, before returning to Brewer.   
  • If you cannot be present, you either confirm a safe place to Roof Giant when you place your order or leave a note for the driver with instructions where to leave the delivery. If your delivery is left in a leave safe this is at your own risk.

Damages & missing items

  • All damaged or missing items should be reported to the driver and signed for as damaged or missing, wherever possible.
  • Contact Roof Giant regarding damages and missing items within 7 days with all details so we can help you. If you wait too long, we may be unable to help.
  • Any damages must be photographed as delivered and submitted along with your claim by email to sales@roofgiant.com.

Do not install purchased items if you have a query with the product (e.g. if you need to query damage that occurred during transit).

  • If an item is installed it will not be refunded or replaced.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery charges will vary and will depend on the manufacturer, weight, size and delivery location. The cost is automatically calculated when you add items to the shopping basket.

How long will I wait for my delivery?

The estimated delivery times are shown on each product page, we will email you each step of the way to keep you informed. The majority of products can be delivered within 3-5 working days.We will advise you if the delivery period is different from than stated on our website.

Do you offer next day delivery?

If a product is available with next day delivery, this will be displayed on the product page or in the basket. If you have a particular item that you require quicker than the guide on our website, please contact our sales team on 01858 455055 during office hours, they will be able to confirm whether a quicker delivery is possible.

What if my delivery doesn't turn up on time?

Do you offer free delivery if I spend a substantial amount?

Not as standard, we show the delivery charges separate once you go to the checkout so it is clear what you are paying for the products and delivery costs. If you are ordering larger quantities please contact out sales team who will be able to confirm if this is possible.

Do you deliver on weekends?

Not as standard, our deliveries are made Monday to Friday. If you do need an urgent Saturday delivery please contact out sales team on 01858 455055 during office hours who will be able to confirm. This will incur a premium charge if possible.

Do you deliver to Northern Ireland/Guernsey/The Scottish Highlands/Isle of Wight?

Some suppliers/couriers will deliver to these areas but not all, please contact our sales team on 01858 455055 or email sales@roofgiant.com during office hours for confirmation. If we are able to deliver the product you require, additional transport costs will apply, we will be able to confirm this to you. These additional costs are based on the manufacturer, distributor or courier providing the shipping on our behalf.

Do you deliver to Republic of Ireland, Europe and Rest of World? 

No, unfortunately we nor our suppliers can deliver outside of Great Britain (and Northern Ireland in some instances).

We recommend you take photos of the goods and packaging before returning, as this may be required for courier claims.

Your Right to Cancel

  • Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you can change your mind within 14 days of receiving your order (or the final part of a split delivery).
  • You must notify us by phone or email first.
  • Goods must be unused, in original packaging, and suitable for resale.

Returns After 14 Days

  • Returns may be accepted up to 30 days but may be subject to a restocking fee.

Refunds & Costs

  • We refund the product price plus standard delivery. Premium delivery charges are non-refundable.
  • Refunds are issued within 14 days of returned goods being received (or proof of posting).
  • You are responsible for return shipping unless we arrange collection, in which case the direct cost will be charged.

Exclusions & Brand Policies

  • Some products and brands have specific return rules (e.g. VELUX, Castle Composites, Midland Lead).
  • Made-to-order items, bagged/powder/plaster products, and sale items are non-returnable unless faulty.
