The Wallbarn Mega Balance Self-Levelling Pedestal is a 4-in-1, heavy duty, superior quality, fully adjustable height pedestal for paving and decking jobs. Available in a huge height range (from 25mm to 1025mm), the self-levelling headpiece can support and position both paving slabs and tiles as well as joists and bearers for decking applications, accommodating differences in the deck surface below the pedestal.

Able to tolerate over 3 tonnes in weight per unit, the headpiece of this pedestal is self-levelling as standard but, by using the “grey nut”, the head can be locked rigid within the same unit. The telescopic thread gives a large height range per unit; simply twist the stem to adjust the height of the unit, which can be achieved with slab / tile or decking joist still in place. This is a suspended system so the weight of the paving slabs / tiles ballast themselves.

Made from injection moulded polypropylene, without fillers for long-term durability and performance, the construction has also been laboratory tested at -40°C to +75°C and will not shatter in sub-zero temperatures. The plastic polymer is non-hazardous and fully recyclable.

For Paving Applications

  • Self-levelling headpiece incorporates 4mm x 4mm wide positioning lugs (fins) integrated on the headpiece.
    • Simply lay the paving slab / tile onto one segment of headpiece so four corners of slab / tiles rest on each headpiece; and four pedestals support each corner of a slab / tile.
    • The lugs (fins) separate paving slabs / tiles on the headpiece to allow sufficient drainage between and below slabs / tiles.
    • This creates a uniform paving line for the slabs / tiles.
  • A unique feature of Mega Balance is the ability to alter the heights after completion of paving project.
    • If any tiles start to rock or the pedestals move slightly over time after completion of the project, the special “yellow key” or “silver key” tool can be used to slot into a slot in the centre of the headpiece and twisted to turn the stem and adjust the height of the pedestal with the slab / tile in situ. This is labour saving and improves health and safety.
    • The lug width is 4mm as standard to allow enough room for the key to fit into the slot.
  • The headpiece is self-levelling and moves up to 5% or 2.86° in all directions. The “grey nut” can be pressed into the centre of the headpiece to lock the self-levelling mechanism, should installers require fixed heads. 
    • Mega Balance is therefore both self-levelling and fixed head in the same pedestal.
  • An integrated rubber anti-shock pad is supplied as standard for the headpiece. It clicks into place to give a better grip to the slab / tile and improves vibration and noise insulation. 
  • There are cut lines on the underside of the base plates should installers need to pave directly up to walls / parapets. Do not cut bases beyond these cut lines.

For Decking Applications

  • The four positioning lugs on the self-levelling headpiece are set 55mm apart so a 50mm wide joist / bearer enough can be loose laid between them easily.
    • The joist is loose laid rather than mechanically fixed in case of expansion / movement differences between structure beneath and the decking over time.
    • The lugs are high enough to house the joists securely.
    • This gives flexibility to the decking project.
  • The joists / bearers should be cross fitted together to form a secure framework. The upper surface decking boards will be mechanically fixed to the joist frame according to the specification and assembly instructions of the deckboard supplier. 
  • There is no need to cut furrings as the pedestals are adjusted in height to create a flat frame level. This speeds up installation immensely. 
  • The headpiece is self-levelling as standard. Installers may or may not wish to click the grey nut into the headpiece to lock the head, depending on the characteristics of the decking project.
  • The integrated rubber anti-shock pad provides greater grip and sound / vibration insulation to the decking project.

Assembly Instructions

This section is split into two parts, with advice about Wallbarn's pedestals range, as well as their green roof offering.

Pedestals

What are the advantages of pedestals?

They are quick and easy to install, offer improved drainage, protect the surface underneath and can be lifted at any time for maintenance.

How do I install them?

The pedestals are placed on a flat, hard surface, with no mechanical fixings required. They need to be placed on a structured surface, and shouldn't be placed on non-compacted earth.

Do they need to be fastened?

No, the pedestals are part of a suspended system, with the weight of the slabs/decking holding everything in place.

Green Roof

What is a green roof / modular roof?

Sedum or other succulent plants are grown in low-level substrates. Modular systems are grown in sections and can be lifted into place and joined together.

Do they need maintenance?

The plants are very hardy, but watering in extreme conditions is recommended. Dead leaves and vegetation should be removed at regular intervals, and a slow-release fertiliser can be applied at certain periods throughout the year.

Delivery charges

  • The delivery charge will be shown in the checkout.
  • If the delivery is missed for any reason, you will be billed again for the re-delivery. See below: failed deliveries. 

Delivery access

  • Wallbarn access varies depending on the product type, all deliveries are made by Wallbarn/3rd part large HGV vehicles and couriers:

Wallbarn Parcels including pedestals and drainage outlets are packed into bags or boxes and delivered on a to-door service. 
Wallbarn Pallets are delivered to kerbside only. Wallbarn cannot bring vehicles or pallet trucks onto gravel or earth surfaces, the customer will need to make arrangements to move the materials from the hard surface onto there property.  
Wallbarn Double pallets including aluminium rails and decking materials are delivered on double length pallets and will be delivered to kerbside only. 
Wallbarn Green Roof – M-Tray® and associated green roof products are delivered on pallets to kerbside only. 

  • Wallbarn  cannot bring vehicles or pallet trucks onto gravel or earth surfaces, the customer will need to make arrangements to move the materials from the hard surface onto their property.  
  • You must make our sales office aware of these restrictions or the delivery may fail BEFORE Wallbarn attempt delivery.

Date and time of delivery

  • We will advise a delivery date to you by email, and your order will be delivered directly to you from Wallbarn.
  • Delivery will arrive between 8.30-7.pm. 

Failed deliveries are chargeable

  • You must be present to accept the delivery.
  • All Wallbarn delivery charges are based on the customer being able to accept the goods. If the delivery is refused one additional delivery attempt will be made, then any subsequent attempts will be subject to additional charges. Please contact Roof Giant for more details.
  • Wallbarn cannot bring vehicles or pallet trucks onto gravel or earth surfaces, the customer will need to make arrangements to move the materials from the hard surface onto their property.  

Damages & missing items

  • All damaged or missing items should be reported to the driver and signed for as damaged or missing, wherever possible.
  • Contact Roof Giant within 24-48 hours with full details so we can help you. If you wait too long, we may be unable to help. 
  • Orders signed for “unchecked” will be deemed to have been received in good condition with no guarantee of replacement or refund. As soon as the order has been delivered to your requested delivery address, the risk of any damage or loss passes to you.
  • Any damages must be photographed on the pallet as delivered and submitted along with your claim by email to sales@roofgiant.com.

Do not install purchased items if you have a query with the product (e.g. if you need to query damage that occurred during transit).

If an item is installed it will not be refunded or replaced.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery charges will vary and will depend on the manufacturer, weight, size and delivery location. The cost is automatically calculated when you add items to the shopping basket.

How long will I wait for my delivery?

The estimated delivery times are shown on each product page, we will email you each step of the way to keep you informed. The majority of products can be delivered within 3-5 working days.We will advise you if the delivery period is different from than stated on our website.

Do you offer next day delivery?

If a product is available with next day delivery, this will be displayed on the product page or in the basket. If you have a particular item that you require quicker than the guide on our website, please contact our sales team on 01858 455055 during office hours, they will be able to confirm whether a quicker delivery is possible.

What if my delivery doesn't turn up on time?

Do you offer free delivery if I spend a substantial amount?

Not as standard, we show the delivery charges separate once you go to the checkout so it is clear what you are paying for the products and delivery costs. If you are ordering larger quantities please contact out sales team who will be able to confirm if this is possible.

Do you deliver on weekends?

Not as standard, our deliveries are made Monday to Friday. If you do need an urgent Saturday delivery please contact out sales team on 01858 455055 during office hours who will be able to confirm. This will incur a premium charge if possible.

Do you deliver to Northern Ireland/Guernsey/The Scottish Highlands/Isle of Wight?

Some suppliers/couriers will deliver to these areas but not all, please contact our sales team on 01858 455055 or email sales@roofgiant.com during office hours for confirmation. If we are able to deliver the product you require, additional transport costs will apply, we will be able to confirm this to you. These additional costs are based on the manufacturer, distributor or courier providing the shipping on our behalf.

Do you deliver to Republic of Ireland, Europe and Rest of World? 

No, unfortunately we nor our suppliers can deliver outside of Great Britain (and Northern Ireland in some instances).

Returns After 14 Days

  • Returns may be accepted up to 30 days but may be subject to a restocking fee.

Refunds & Costs

  • We refund the product price plus standard delivery. Premium delivery charges are non-refundable.
  • Refunds are issued within 14 days of returned goods being received (or proof of posting).
  • You are responsible for return shipping unless we arrange collection, in which case the direct cost will be charged.

Exclusions & Brand Policies

  • Some products and brands have specific return rules (e.g. VELUX, Castle Composites, Midland Lead).
  • Made-to-order items, bagged/powder/plaster products, and sale items are non-returnable unless faulty.
