Installation Guidance

  1. (For replacing an existing roof covering only) Carefully remove timber facias, old felt, nails and sharps and repair any rotten roof timbers.
  2. Allow 30 minutes to relax the EPDM membrane. Simply unpack and position over roof deck allowing it to hang over the roof on all sides.
  3. Expose half of the roof deck by rolling or folding the EPDM membrane and secure using gaffa tape if needed. Apply water-based deck adhesive with an old paint roller in stages from the ridge to the bottom edges. The adhesive must be wet when the rubber membrane is folded back into position.
  4. Secure the edges of the EPDM membrane using either clout nails, a treated timber batten of a shed roof edge trim.
  5. We would recommend you add 150mm overhang for each side when ordering.
  • Please see video above for further information on installation

Please note, when multiple goods are ordered as part of a kit you may receive more than one delivery due to the size/length of goods.

What thickness is the Skyguard membrane?

The membrane is 1mm thick.

Is Skyguard suitable for buildings like house extensions?

It is ideal perfect for sheds and garden rooms, but is not suitable for buildings that need to be compliant with building regulations due to its slightly thinner formation.

Can you do a join with the Skyguard membrane?

The Skyguard membrane is not provided with joining tapes. Therefore it should be installed as a whole sheet.

Can I use Sure Edge trims with Skyguard?

Yes, these trims are compatible but not included in the package.

What kind of temperature can Skyguard be installed in?

Anything above 4 degrees is OK.

Good final outcomeReviewed by Allen42 on 04 Feb 2024

We were happy with the rubber and the adhesive, found this very easy, but the black mastic on the edges was a messy process and didnt hold in place while it dried, we used a staple gun to keep it there

Far superior to standard shed roof felt.Reviewed by Martin--fox on 09 Mar 2023

Soaking wet shed roof led to me looking for something better than the standard shed felt. More expensive but far superior. tough and easy to cut.

Hi, I was just looking to know if this is for a flat roof only or if it would suit an apex shed roof? Also how much is delivery to Northern Ireland Thanks
This can be used on both an Apex and a flat roof. Delivery to Northern Island is POA please contact us on 01858 455055
Hi What size skyguard shed roof kit would I need to buy for a 10' x 6' shed?
You can select the size you need from the dropdown all sizes are in cm.
Good morning can this be put over old flat felt Regards christine
We would advise that you carefully remove timber facias, old felt, nails and sharps and repair any rotten roof timbers before you use this product . More installation details are on the description tab
Would I need to use a sealant on the roof before using the kit?
You will need to let the wood roof dry as much as possible before applying the kit, it can be used on slightly damp wood and there will be no need to seal the roof, you can go ahead and use the adhesive that comes in the pack.
Are these 1mm rubber roofs suitable to use on a pergola solid roof?
Skyguard EPDM requires a porous substance to allow the glue to be absorbed and form a good bond/seal between the roof and the EPDM, we recommend OSB 3 board and if your currently roofing material is not suitable you can overlay it with OSB boards.
Can I stick EPDM straight onto Jablite without the need for ply?
We would only recommend this is used on a timber sheet base
Why is there a seam in EPDM rubber roofing membranes?
There is a manufacturing seam in ALL EPDM rubber roofing membranes, no matter the manufacturer. This is what makes larger sheets to cover roofs of many different shapes and sizes possible. Don't worry though! The seams in membranes are carried out by machines, leaving no room for human error, using a process call vulcanisation - a fancy term for a combination of heat and pressure.
Can this be fitted over a damaged felt roof?
The SkyGuard will need to be installed on top of the OSBs.
