Our Cut-To-Size TRC Techno Rubber Company EPDM Rubber Roofing Membrane is available in custom lengths and a range of pre-determined widths and thicknesses to suit a wide range of flat roofing applications. This versatile and eco-friendly membrane will provide your extension, shed, garage or similar flat roof project with a durable, waterproof and low-maintenance protective covering.

Easy to install, our single-ply cut-to-size rubber membrane is designed for a wide range of flat roofing projects. Simply input your chosen measurements into our cut-to-size calculator to instantly receive a price based on your exact requirements. Comes with 5 roll widths to choose from, ranging from 2.1 metres to 6.1 metres. This will limit wastage while saving you time and money when installing your membrane.

Made of EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer), conveyed to the calender extruder into large sheets and vulcanized for durability. Once fitted, EPDM membrane can have a life expectancy of 50 years or more with very little maintenance required over its long lifespan.

TRC Frequently Asked Questions

I have never installed a rubber flat roof… is it easy?

Techno EPDM kits are specifically designed for the competent DIYer.  Some roofs are very easy to weatherproof, particularly freestanding roofs etc. Some roofs require more expertise eg. roofs with multiple skylights or awkward pipes and apertures.

Do I need specialist equipment to install my new rubber roof?

You should only need basic hand tools for a straightforward roof. eg. tape measure, shovel, broom, hammer, handsaw, rubbish bags etc.

How long does it take to install?

The average (20m2) rear extension should only take a morning to install. Getting the roof stripped off and any decking replaced if needed usually takes longer than installing Techno EPDM.

I am worried about stripping off my old roof and leaving it exposed to the elements.

It is advised to check both the weather forecast and that you have the correct materials on site prior to starting. The beauty of the TRC Techno EPDM system is that if you do get caught in an unexpected shower you have a pre-cut weatherproof sheet to hand, which you can use as a tarpaulin.

Do I need to strip off my old roof?

It depends if the timber substrate is sound. If there has been a long term leak, or the decking is chipboard, then the roof may need reboarding in places. If the substrate is sound and the felt cleaned of dust etc then the EPDM can probably be adhered directly to it using contact adhesive (although this is more tricky to install).

To save time and expense, some people simply overboard their roofs with new ply or OSB, screwing into the existing substrate.

Is there an up or down when installing the rubber?

Techno EPDM is identical on both sides.

Are the products safe to use?

Yes and all products are supplied with clear instructions and safety data sheets. Sensible precautions should be taken ie. do not inhale adhesive fumes, do not allow children access to the products etc.

How long will my roof last?

Your new Techno EPDM membrane is guaranteed not to fail due to weathering for 20 years. It is essential that the product is installed in accordance with the detailed instructions provided.

Is Techno EPDM environmentally friendly?

Yes, EPDM is an inert material with limited environmental impact during manufacture and installation.

Can I use Techno EPDM in really hot or really cold weather?

For the best results, use in mild conditions. The adhesives should not be used if temperatures are likely to be below 5 degrees celsius within 24 hours.

Can I use Techno EPDM on top of insulation boards to create a warm roof?

A ply faced insulation board eg Kingspan TR31 or similar is recommended. Alternatively you can insulate on top of the decking with foil faced boards, then overdeck with OSB or plywood, secured with long screws.

Can I adhere Techno EPDM directly to felt, fibreglass, asphalt or concrete?

The contact adhesive can be used for this type of application but, unlike water based glue, this is quite tricky to do on large areas. It’s recommended to overboard roofs with a minimum 10mm ply or OSB and using the water based glue.

Can I walk on my new Techno EPDM roof?

The membrane is incredibly tough and perfect for maintenance access. For balconies etc then additional protection is recommended e.g. paving slabs, walkway pads or timber decking.

My Techno EPDM appears to be quite chalky, is that OK?

Chalk is used in the manufacturing process to prevent the membrane sticking together. It will gradually weather off and does not affect its lifespan.

I have some wrinkles in my Techno EPDM, is this a problem?

There may be wrinkles or creases in the membrane. These may be caused in manufacturing or shipping. Open out and allow the membrane to "relax" for as long as possible prior to adhering. For stubborn creases a gentle heat source (eg a heat gun or hairdryer) should be applied prior to adhering.

There are joins in the rubber, why is this?

Techno EPDM is manufactured in Saudi Arabia and the large panels are created using vulcanised seams.  The material of these seams are homogeneous and 100% cured.

Can I install Techno EPDM in the rain?

The water based adhesive will work on damp timber but is not designed to be used in the rain. Contact adhesives will only work on dry substrates.

Can I install a cement screed on top of EPDM to create a walkway or balcony?

Techno EPDM is perfectly compatible with sand and cement.

My EPDM roof has been damaged, can it be repaired?

EPDM roofs can be easily repaired using the 9" flashing tape and Techno primer, cut the flashing tape to the desired shape and size, prime the area, allow to go touch dry. Peel the backing paper off and mate the surfaces together. Roller using a silicone roller.

Delivery charges

  • The delivery charge will be shown in the checkout.
  • If the delivery is missed for any reason, you will be billed again for the re-delivery. See below: failed deliveries.

Delivery Access

  • Avenir couriers use a variety of delivery vehicles dependant on the weight of the order. This can vary between a large van or an 18 ton side curtain lorry, we would recommend accepting delivery to an area which would accommodate this.
  • Our sales office will need to be made aware of any delivery restrictions, such as narrow lanes, overhanging trees etc. that may cause restrictions.
  • You must make our sales office aware of these restrictions or the delivery may fail. Smaller vehicles maybe available but cannot be guaranteed.

Date and time of delivery

  • Orders placed before 14.00 will normally be despatched the same day (mainland UK only).
  • Delivery should arrive within 2 working days and be delivered between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Please note we only deliver to mainland UK.

Failed deliveries are chargeable

  • You must be present to accept the delivery.
  • If you cannot be present, it is important to leave a note for the driver with instructions where to leave the pallet or the delivery will fail.
  • Avenir are not liable for any consequential costs that may arise from any errors or failed deliveries. We strongly recommend that you have all the checked materials on site prior to bringing in any sub contract labour as we cannot be held liable for any shortages or failures to deliver that may occur.
  • Any consignment that, on the instruction of the purchaser, is to be left by our carrier unsigned and unchecked, is at the risk of the purchaser. We cannot be held responsible for any damages or shortages that may have occurred.

Damages & missing items

  • Contact Roof Giant within 48 hours with all details so we can help you. If you wait too long, we may be unable to help.
  • Please forward photographs of damaged goods to Roof Giant.
  • Please make sure all items are in good condition and the number of items you are signing for before signing the carrier’s delivery note. This includes opening and checking all items. In the unlikely event of damages, any damaged items need to be clearly marked on the drivers manifest and reported immediately, so that replacements can be sent. Failure to highlight any shortages or damages at the time of delivery may mean that replacements cannot be sent.
  • Avenir recommend taking photographs of any goods prior to collection to protect yourself from any further damage that may occur in transit back to us.
  • Metal adhesive tins: if these tins get dented in transit. Minor dents are not a problem and will not affect the performance or application of the glue. In the unlikely event of any spillage then please notify the carrier and ourselves in the first instance.
  • Any consignment that, on the instruction of the purchaser, is to be left by our carrier unsigned and unchecked, is at the risk of the purchaser. We cannot be held responsible for any damages or shortages that may have occurred.

Do not install purchased items if you have a query with the product (e.g., If you need to query damage that occurred during transit).

  • If an item is installed it will not be refunded or replaced.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery charges will vary and will depend on the manufacturer, weight, size and delivery location. The cost is automatically calculated when you add items to the shopping basket.

How long will I wait for my delivery?

The estimated delivery times are shown on each product page, we will email you each step of the way to keep you informed. The majority of products can be delivered within 3-5 working days.We will advise you if the delivery period is different from than stated on our website.

Do you offer next day delivery?

We currently offer next day delivery on certain brands. If you have a particular item that you require quicker than the guide on our website, please contact our sales team on 01858 455055 during office hours, they will be able to confirm whether a quicker delivery is possible.

Do you offer free delivery if I spend a substantial amount?

Not as standard, we show the delivery charges separate once you go to the checkout so it is clear what you are paying for the products and delivery costs. If you are ordering larger quantities please contact out sales team who will be able to confirm if this is possible.

Do you deliver on weekends?

Not as standard, our deliveries are made Monday to Friday. If you do need an urgent Saturday delivery please contact out sales team on 01858 455055 during office hours who will be able to confirm. This will incur a premium charge if possible.

Do you deliver to Northern Ireland/Guernsey/The Scottish Highlands/Isle of Wight?

Some suppliers/couriers will deliver to these areas but not all, please contact our sales team on 01858 455055 or email sales@roofgiant.com during office hours for confirmation. If we are able to deliver the product you require, additional transport costs will apply, we will be able to confirm this to you. These additional costs are based on the manufacturer, distributor or courier providing the shipping on our behalf.

Do you deliver to Republic of Ireland, Europe and Rest of World? 

No, unfortunately we nor our suppliers can deliver outside of Great Britain (and Northern Ireland in some instances).

We recommend you take photos of the goods and packaging before returning, as this may be required for courier claims.

Your Right to Cancel

  • Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you can change your mind within 14 days of receiving your order (or the final part of a split delivery).
  • You must notify us by phone or email first.
  • Goods must be unused, in original packaging, and suitable for resale.

Returns After 14 Days

  • Returns may be accepted up to 30 days but may be subject to a restocking fee.

Refunds & Costs

  • We refund the product price plus standard delivery. Premium delivery charges are non-refundable.
  • Refunds are issued within 14 days of returned goods being received (or proof of posting).
  • You are responsible for return shipping unless we arrange collection, in which case the direct cost will be charged.

Exclusions & Brand Policies

  • Some products and brands have specific return rules (e.g. VELUX, Castle Composites, Midland Lead).
  • Made-to-order items, bagged/powder/plaster products, and sale items are non-returnable unless faulty.
