This Katepal shed roof shingles kit contains everything you need to transform your shed roof, garden building or summer house.

The shingles are suitable for roof pitches from 12 degrees, are long-lasting, lightweight and easy to install. The KL is a traditionally shaped one-colour hexagon shape roofing shingle.

SBS elastomer bitumen is a really superior material of roofing shingles and it's properties far exceed those of other roofing shingle materials. Katepal elastomer bitumen roofing consists of one or more layers of elastomer bitumen membrane. Elastomer bitumen sheets are manufactured of styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) elastomer and bitumen bonded to polyester or glass felt. The waterproofing material of the sheet is crucial for keeping it weatherproof irrespective of the stresses it is subjected to.

Thanks to its good stretch and elasticity properties SBS elastomer bitumen withstands high strain caused by movement even at very low temperatures. In this respect it is far superior to other bitumen based weatherproofing materials (oxidized bitumen and APP modified bitumen).

Do nails have to penetrate the sarking?

If the tip of a nail remains inside the board, moisture changes in the wood cause expansion and contraction, starting to dislodge the nail. Leaks can then be seen, usually after 10-15 years.

Why can't nails be placed at the top edge of the shingles?

They are nailed above the notches so they go through the overlap and press the adhesive surface tightly against the previous shingle. If placed at the top edge they could get torn away in inclement weather.

Why can't shingles be installed on pitches less than 1:5?

Water pressure can cause issues on pitches lower than 1:5, so weatherproofing cannot be guaranteed.

Can I install shingles all year round?

Warm conditions are best for installing shingles, but they can be installed in cold weather if necessary. However, heating of the shingles will be required to help them bond. It is recommend to install shingles in spring or summer as best practice though.

Delivery charges

  • The delivery charge will be shown in the checkout. 
  • If the delivery is missed for any reason, you will be billed again for the re-delivery. See below: failed deliveries.

Delivery access

  • Katepal products are delivered on a lorry and moved via pump truck to a hard surface (driveway/pathway). If you have a gravel drive the driver will only be able to leave goods at the closest hard surfaced area. 
  • The lorry’s range from 7.5 ton up to 18 ton therefore our sales office must be made aware of any delivery restrictions such as narrow roads or issues with parking must be advised at time of ordering so we can request a smaller vehicle. Also if overhanging trees or anything else that may cause restrictions. 
  • Deliveries are made kerb site only and all deliveries need to be sign for as proof of receipt of goods.

Date and time of delivery

  • We will advise a delivery date to you by email and your order will be delivered directly to you by Katepal. 
  • Delivery will arrive between 8.00am – 6.00pm, please make arrangements for someone to be at the delivery address. If you cannot be there to accept the delivery it will fail.
  • Please note if the full order is not available at time of delivery, Katepal will forward missing goods by second delivery. 

Failed deliveries are chargeable

  • You must be present to accept the delivery. If you cannot be present the delivery will fail, all deliveries need to be signed for as proof of receipt of goods.
  • If you have a gravel drive it will not be possible to leave the goods without someone being in attendance. 
  • If the delivery fails, Katepal will store or arrange for the storage of the goods and will charge you for all associated costs and expenses including, but not limited to, transportation, storage, and insurance, and/or make arrangements for the re-delivery of the goods and will charge you £35.00 for the costs of such re-delivery.

Damages & missing items

  • You must inspect the goods on delivery/prior to offloading.
  • If you identify any damages or shortages, you must inform Roof Giant in writing within 3 days of delivery, providing details with the original order reference. If you wait too long, we may be unable to help. 
  • Any damages must be photographed on the pallet as delivered and submitted along with your claim by email to sales@roofgiant.com. Please send photographs of any damaged or faulty items. Katepal will only accept returned goods if they are satisfied that those goods are defective after inspection. Katepal will as appropriate, repair, or replace, or refund the goods. 
  • Acceptance of the Goods will be deemed to be upon inspection of them by you and in any event within 14 days after delivery.

Do not install purchased items if you have a query with the product (e.g. if you need to query damage that occurred during transit).

  • If an item is installed it will not be refunded or replaced.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery charges will vary and will depend on the manufacturer, weight, size and delivery location. The cost is automatically calculated when you add items to the shopping basket.

How long will I wait for my delivery?

The estimated delivery times are shown on each product page, we will email you each step of the way to keep you informed. The majority of products can be delivered within 3-5 working days.We will advise you if the delivery period is different from than stated on our website.

Do you offer NEXT DAY delivery?

We currently do not offer next day delivery but hope to offer this soon. If you have a particular item that you require quicker than the guide on our website, please contact our sales team on 01858 455055 during office hours, they will be able to confirm whether a quicker delivery if possible.

What if my delivery doesn't turn up on time?

Do you offer FREE Delivery if I spend a substantial amount?

Not as standard, we show the delivery charges separate once you go to the checkout so it is clear what you are paying for the products and delivery costs. If you are ordering larger quantities please contact out sales team who will be able to confirm if this is possible.

Do you deliver on Weekends?

Not as standard, our deliveries are made Monday to Friday. If you do need an urgent Saturday delivery please contact out sales team on 01858 455055 during office hours who will be able to confirm. This will incur a premium charge if possible.

Do you deliver to Northern Ireland/Guernsey/The Scottish Highlands/Isle of Wight?

Yes, we do but our transport charges incorporated in the site do not cover these areas, please contact our sales team on 01858 455055 during office hours for costs; or we will contact you to make the additional payment once you have completed your online purchase.

REFUND POLICY

Returns

Important Note: Please do not send goods back to Roof Giant before speaking to the Roof Giant sales office. 

Roof Giant strongly recommend you take photographs of goods before returning. Occasionally goods are damaged during transit, therefore you may need to confirm the packaging/goods were intact (prior to collection) to the courier as part of the refund process.

As a consumer you have the right to change your mind (Consumer Regulations 2013). This right stipulates that for most products purchased online you have a legal right to change your mind within 14 days and receive a refund under the consumer contracts regulations 2013.

This right starts from the point you or someone you nominate receives the goods. If your goods are being delivered in multiple deliveries your right starts from the point the last delivery is received.

If you wish to exercise this right you must in the first instance contact us via phone 01858 455055 or email sales@roofgiant.com advising us of your wish to change your mind, its then your responsibility to arrange for the goods to be returned to us within 14 days of ending the contract.
