Product info

The Rosemary name is synonymous with clay plain tiles, adding distinction and character to pitched roofs for over 175 years. Today, a range of single and cross-camber tiles combine the quality of hand-crafted clay with the reliability of modern machine-made techniques. Produced from the finest clays, Rosemary is offered in a range of weathered, brindled and single colours that create striking and attractive roofs.

Authority

For full details of the standards to which Rosemary tiles are produced, please view the Rosemary Product Standard PDF document. This document provides details including testing, dimensional tolerances, shape, strength and permissible superficial surface faults.

Rosemary Clay Classic Plain Tiles conform to BS EN 1304: 2013 Clay roofing tiles and fittings - Product definitions and specifications.

Performance

Rosemary Clay Classic Plain Tiles have been rigorously tested in the Group wind tunnel where combinations of high wind and driving rain are used to determine the tile performance with respect to wind loading and weathertightness. Tiles will meet all the requirements of BS 5534: 2014 Code of practice for slating and tiling (including shingles), providing Redland fixing recommendations are complied with.

  • Tiles must be hung on their nibs
  • Adjacent tiles should be laid with a nominal gap of 1.5 mm, maximum 3 mm
  • At eaves, use double courses with purpose made Eaves/Top Tiles for the undercourse
  • At verges and abutments, use Standard Plain Tiles and Tile-and-a-Halves in alternate courses
  • Adjacent to hips and valleys, use Tile-and-a-Halves for raking cuts
  • At side abutments, allow for stepped flashing and soakers
  • At top courses use double courses with purpose made Eaves/Top Tiles for the top course.
