Isover has announced that its pitched roof rafter solution, Metac, has become Local Authority Building Control (LABC) registered. For Isover, this certification means specifiers and contractors have the security and assurance that Metac is fully Building Regulations compliant, making it suitable for use on local authority projects.

Isover Metac is a high performance mineral wool insulation material, manufactured on a roll for pitched roof rafter applications. The insulation has a declared thermal conductivity of 0.034 W m-1 K-1 and is manufactured from glass mineral wool that is produced from up to 80% recycled glass.

The product is easy to install with a friction fit possible if the material is cut accurately to suit the rafter spacing. Additional timber battens can then be fixed perpendicular over the Metac insulation and rafters, this will allow for additional insulation and plasterboard facing.

Using thermal laminates (i.e. insulated plasterboard) or insulation sheets finished with a separate sheet of plasterboard are also other options.
